Best 10 Action-RPG Games

What are the best PS4 RPGs? There are many video games of this genre that worth your attention. Some of the best video games are JPRGs and MMOs. So if you like to immerse in a fictional world with a character that you love, role-playing video games are your cup of tea. Some prefer the action role-playing video game, some classic adventures where text occupy a large role, but whatever you like, I am sure you will find something worthy in this list. Without further ado, let's analyze the best PlayStation role-playing video games.

Diablo III

Diablo III is a terrific video game, and every bit the landmark achievement in the genre that everybody expected out of Blizzard. The demonstration and battle are next to none, and the co-op focus is well-executed and a natural fit for the genre. It's a shame that the online requirement is a deal-breaker for some, whether due to a moral stance or a crappy Internet connection. It's an addictive, beautifully crafted and truly complete action-RPG experience that you must own. It is a changed game, but it has never been such spectacular fun to play, or so imaginative to tinker with. It's true that Blizzard is not a company known for being innovative, but there is a word that I think defines their titles: proficiency. This video game is the pinnacle of proficiency. At its heart, Diablo 3 is a series of combat encounters and, when you realize exactly how carefully it is put together, you'll appreciate the staggering Blizzard's experience. Blizzard had to compromise to manage the expectations of a bigger audience and some decision are toward a grater acceptance. Diablo III still manages to stay truthful to its roots, while still increasing accessibility for newcomers. Some players might be annoyed by those revisions of this formula, but the truth is that Diablo III nevertheless is the grade of contemporary hack'n slash titles we were praying to get, thanks to incredible production values, polish, audio content and work.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is much more than just an incredible game that successfully brings lush visuals, strategic battle and a captivating world untainted with the issues that games of similar nature have when constructing such huge open spaces. Probably the finest open-world RPG ever made, but it still falls prey to a few of the genre's worst traps. 50 hours and there is no end in sight. It has huge content that will make anyone happy. The game is amazing, enormous and filled with content. The best game universe for exploring I've seen in the last few years. In fact it is almost too much - too many side-quests, too much land to cover, and characters to meet. The only area I find it slightly lacking is with all the battle. In comparison with the likes of Shadow or Mordor or the Arkham series, Geralt's sword-play and boxing abilities are somewhat slightly unsatisfying. The music is perfect, but there is not enough diversity for my taste. You end up hearing the same tracks repeated endlessly for hours, until you get to Skellige. With its deep storyline, smartly written quests, a stunning world to explore and more than 100 hours of roleplaying goodness, The Witcher 3 is in a category of its own. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a game you should be playing. It is one of those few open-world RPG's that manages to excel at not giving you an expansive world to explore, but at also giving you plenty to do inside that world.

Persona 5 Royal

Persona 5 Royal enables players to experience the story they already love in a new way without losing any of the beauty from the original video game. New and old characters get their chance to shine through and steal your heart, even the ones that you never expected to. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and maybe you'll even feel a sense of justice for the infamous Phantom Thieves in the end. But one thing you won't feel is sorrow in picking up Persona 5 Royal, because it's really the best Persona title, if not among the best video games, I've experienced to date. After 135 hours with the game, one fact stands above all: Atlus actually cares for this name. Persona 5 Royal isn't only a Definitive Edition of Persona 5: unlike other GOTY variations that throw the video game and its DLC packs in exactly the same package, Royal is the ultimate edition for P5. For veterans of the video game, this will be an enhanced edition, for novices, it is going to mark the best spot to jump into this amazing series. This is not more of the same, this isn't an optional add-on to the original game. This, my friends, is the best experience, down to the last letter, down to the last minute. Persona 5 Royal is a Japanese crown jewel.

Darksiders Genesis

Darksiders Genesis is a fantastic new direction for the game series, and while I really like the third-person 3D entries, I would be fine with the Genesis blueprint running the show moving forward. This is one of my favorite videogames. The option of Diablo-style isometric perspective turns out to be a blessing, but do not be deceived by the mystery and adventure elements - this is an action console game at heart. Strife and War are here to entertain you, and they will do whatever they need to do to achieve this objective. You discover here for the first time the last hero and he can shoot! If you play for the first time a console game from the Darksiders saga you will find it amazing. It is just remarkable what the developers put together!  I was raised with isometric stuff like Diablo and the notion of owning a Blizzard-like hack and slash, but full of puzzled and stage components is quite a refreshing take. Art direction is very wonderful, everything is smooth and vibrant and extremely lively. Special mention for the characters! Darksiders Genesis is a great upper class action console game despite some minor difficulties, undoubtedly the best console game in the game series, and one of the best hack and slash video games you will find. As somebody who has played them all, I can honestly state that this is much more than a hack and slash console game in which you slay demons, but a kick-ass demon slaying console game which has found new life by remixing what it does best and integrating the best features of different videogames to make something fresh in the game series.

Nier Automata

Nier: Automata is a phenomenal game title filled with amazing gameplay, world building, amazing storytelling, and it even poses some interesting questions. Announced during Square-Enix's eccentric E3 conference in 2015, this game went under the code name Nier: New Project until its complete reveal at the Paris Games Week show later in the year. It was delayed from its first release window of November 2016 to give the team more time to work on enhancing gameplay and balance the overall quality. Finally releasing in March of 2017, it has gone on to sell well over a million copies, which makes it one of Platinum's best-selling titles. I decided to give it a shot and, needless to say, I was impressed. Frantic combat, a varied and dynamic soundtrack, a brilliantly-crafted story with memorable characters, and epic boss fights. It's equal parts heartwarming, heart-rending, humorous, and horrifying, sometimes within the span of a couple of minutes. One minute you might be fully engaged in a life-or-death battle against a boss, and the next second, the story will be tugging on your heartstrings. There's so much to love about this game title and it's spawned dozens of think pieces from various websites on the topics introduced in the game title. It's not often that we meet such a stylish, offbeat, memorable game title. Occasionally annoying but always compelling, Nier: Automata is a wondrous and strange encounter that could only ever be a game title.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot for the Sony PlayStation 4 tries to appeal not only to the fans of the series, but introduces enough high quality story and game components to make it a decent RPG even for newcomers to some level.  It is a game that caters to beginners and have the potential to bring new people into the DBZ base. There are the OG sagas to pay, together with the films, Super’s stories, and better still. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is the ideal way to become acquainted with the saga and the franchise. It’s strange that the most advertised mechanics of the videogame, elements that are open-world and the RPG, are the least. It is the struggles where Kakarot shines and the story, so if you’re approaching the videogame from these perspectives, you’re in for a thrilling ride. To put it bluntly, steer clear of exploring and do not expect any RPG elements that are meaningful, and you will have a nice time in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. In essence, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot isn't a perfect game title, but is entertaining enough to be a must-buy for fans of Dragon Ball Z and luring enough for the rest of the players. Unlike most of the games in the franchise, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot follows a role playing game format as opposed to a fighting game one. It's an open-world RPG that tells the main Dragon Ball Z story and all of its epic characters and moments. It would be easy for Kakarot to focus on the louder moments that Dragon Ball is famous for, rather, it allows time for its characters to breathe, easing newcomers into its own rich, colourful world, and invoke the feeling of slipping into an old pair of slippers for veterans.

Dragon Quest XI

There are lots of Easter eggs and references to past Dragon Quest games which will subtly benefit fans, but at exactly the exact same time, the magical world of Erdrea and its characters are appealing to novices of all ages. Even those who have played the previous versions of Dragon Quest XI may find the vast improvements compelling enough for one more round, particularly with the Tickington quests, new character content, and marriage choices. This game is a masterpiece, and it sets a new high standard for not only the sequence, but console RPGs generally. Hopefully the sequence will keep on outdoing itself with further instalments. The meticulous and honest work on story, aesthetics, exploration and combat is accompanied by an impeccable pacing that's surprising given the amount of content available. Are there any issues? Yes, but none of them are evident during the adventure. Betting on tradition comes at a high risk, but the implementation is so perfect that Dragon Quest XI will retain its significance for generations to come. Dragon Quest XI is, without a doubt, worth a playthrough. Square Enix isn't lying about Dragon Quest XI S being the'definitive edition' either, this version is by far the best one to pick up. If you're a fan of RPGs, grabbing Dragon Quest XI is a no-brainer, and even if you've already played through the game title once, it might be worth considering the new version for all the new additions.

Persona 5

Persona 5 is a solid JRPG video game that will make the fans of the genre exceedingly happy. It is a turn-base video game, maybe not everybody's cup of tea. What I mean by turn base is your party controlled characters and the"enemies" that you encounter take turns taking actions during all enemy encounters. As you progress through the story, there are many side quests to partake in. These side quests will sometimes allow you to get experience for your character. The best portion of the videogame is that you never feel as if you're level grinding for the sake of becoming stronger. As you proceed through the story and do the side quests, you will level up. Of course if you would like to level up, by all means, it is up to your style of gameplay. The videogame itself has a totally anime inspired look to it. The characters and enemies are all well drawn, and the environments make you feel as if you're in Japan. It's not a massive departure from Persona 3 or 4, but there has been some noticeable changes and advancements made that do make a difference, all of which are for the better. The dungeon variations, the stealth mechanics, as well as the simplicity with which you can navigate the overworld map are noticeably better than previously. Thus, even if you've felt somewhat lukewarm about the series up until now, I'd still urge you to give Persona 5 a try. With Persona 5, Atlus has once again proven that it is the master of the modern JRPG. With terrific style, addictive gameplay, and an engaging, thought-provoking story, Persona 5 not only matches, but frequently exceeds its predecessors, one of which RPGamer even announced its RPG of the Decade back in 2010. It is an exceptionally long videogame, with the majority of players likely to expect over one hundred hours for a single playthrough, but the investment is well worth it. Persona 5 is a remarkable game which shouldn't be overlooked.

Final Fantasy XV

Final Fantasy XV has turned out to be somewhat divisive, but it is a special title that carves out its own path through the current RPG landscape. Built upon the idea of a bro-tastic road trip, its premise makes for a thoroughly enjoyable travel, even if it does squander its opportunity to tell a more engaging story. It is filled with keys and strangeness, and its mixture of realism and fantasy really sets it apart from the majority of the other games of this genre. It isn't quite a classic, but it is still a damn good time. This is one of my favorite game titles of the year and it is one I'd encourage any previous Final Fantasy fan to consider. Aside from the brilliant nods to the series past -- cute retro touches such as pixel art character menus and classic game soundtracks you can buy in servos and listen to in the Regalia -- this is a game that's doing something new and great with what's come before. It's the fondest I have felt about the series since VIII. The thematic depth and cultural context of the game make for a wonderful, complex, and meaningful story, and FFXV is every bit as worthy as a story work as Stand By Me, where it draws so much inspiration. Couple this with the fact that it is a surprisingly traditional Final Fantasy videogame in the ways that count, and I have got to say I haven't loved a Final Fantasy game with such raw passion in many years.

Nioh 2 enhances and builds upon what the first videogame did and makes it amazingly better With some cool new additions like the yo kai power and tons of new weapons but the star of this videogame is the difficulty it's so hard that sometimes you only want to throw it away and never touch it again the bosses are brutal one strike can kill you one mistake can cost you so much even on the highest levels, this game from the problem element actually but the souls/borne series to shame but in the long run it's is one of the most satisfying experiences gaming has ever offered. In truth, nearly every moment of Nioh 2, even if it is frustrating, and even if you're dying is sweet -- and almost every moment feels different. Team Ninja builds creative areas, too, pushing you through burning towns one second, underground caverns another. And wherever you push, you're going to be challenged, and fulfilled. The next Nioh is more than only a continuation of the legacy. The writers have been able to learn from the mistakes of the first game, and thanks to that this is an exceptional action RPG that will not let you rest and you'll want to continue playing. Nioh 2 is a wonderful game, just like its predecessor. However its effect is obviously slightly smaller than the first Nioh, being so similar to it. Awesome game nonetheless. Must have.
