Death Stranding an interesting action video game

Death Stranding once again sees Hideo Kojima pushing the boundaries of what video games can be, and the result is a breathtaking and uncompromising - if at times willfully baffling - experience. There was perhaps no bigger moment in gaming back in 2016 than legendary director Hideo Kojima walking out onstage at the Shrine Auditorium shortly after his departure from Konami and declaring I'm back!” to an audience fervently awaiting what he would make next and when they'd get to play it. Cue the screens above him showing ghostly hand-prints pressing into black sand as Norman Reedus makes his debut as protagonist Sam Porter Bridges to the tune of indie band Low Roar's I'll Keep Coming” and two thoughts raced across my mind: Video games have never looked better and what in the hell is Death Stranding going to be? The relationship between Sam and BB mirrors my experience with Death Stranding, the latest epic game from enigmatic director Hideo Kojima, who is best known for his work on the Metal Gear Solid series. Parents need to know that Death Stranding is an action adventure game for the PlayStation 4 (buy Death Stranding PS4). The game casts players as Sam Porter Bridges, a delivery man who risks his life and safety to take jobs of transporting various goods to people across a fractured representation of an alternate history United States.
This is not in the category of xbox one games, but we would like to have it. Frushtick argued that the game "felt like two games in one", consisting of "a wholly unique open-world adventure with asynchronous cooperative multiplayer that allows me to feel like I'm part of a community, building a world from scratch" and "a long, confusing, deeply strange movie." 88 Conversely, while acknowledging there would be those who enjoyed these types of games, journalist Jim Sterling called Death Stranding "Hideo Kojima at peak indulgence" and said it's "annoying, and when it's not annoying it's boring", criticizing the game's intricate systems and details that he felt didn't enhance the level of enjoyment but instead were implemented for the sake of realism or for the game to "show off".
Death Stranding is the latest creation from Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind the Metal Gear Solid franchise, and takes players to a futuristic version of the United States. It seems one of the nice releases this year in the category of ps4 games. Hideo Kojima has always been fascinated by attrition: Tapping Circle through the pain in Metal Gear Solid's torture scene, Solid Snake gasping as he crawls through MGS 4's oven hallway, the extended ladder sequence of MGS 3, and the uncomfortably long jeep ride with Skull Face in MGS 5. Death Stranding is his attempt at capturing that feeling, effort as a mechanic, and selling it as an entire game.
Death Stranding sometimes falls into reductive gender tropes, in much the same way that other Kojima games do. Would you recommend this game as one of the best ps4 games this year? This is a story of fatherhood, very often to the expense of the women in the cast. The dead still float around waiting to take Sam under in chiral matter-heavy areas, and the game's pedigree as the product of the Metal Gear Solid studio shows here in tense, effective little stretches where players must stealthily maneuver the territory of the dead, while overloaded with cargo, and avoiding the ghosts that scream for your flesh. Death Stranding is without a doubt the most daring and audacious big-budget videogame since, ironically, Metal Gear Solid 2. It's so deliberate in implementation that I'm sure this is exactly the game Hideo Kojima wanted to make, and by golly, he made that game.
As HUGE Metal Gear Solid and Kojima fans, we were really hoping Death Stranding would be his magnum opus, but overall its story is bloated, lacks his kooky Kojima magic and the overall gameplay just isn't fun enough. Death Stranding has been a long time coming, born from the ashes of the fabled PT project - a stealth Silent Hills game - which also included a collaboration with Konami's Metal Gear Solid mastermind Hideo Kojima, The Walking Dead's Norman Reedus and Pan's Labyrinth director Guillermo Del Toro. Hideo Kojima has again addressed Death Stranding 's mixed critical reception, this time suggesting that American reviewers may have found the game difficult to understand compared to critics in some other regions. A similar game may be Gears 5, recently released (buy gears 5 xbox one).
Hideo Kojima has built one of the most interesting games in gaming history with Death Stranding, which seems to have caused a slight divide amongst reviewers. How does one make a video review for Death Stranding, a game with like 900 trailers—many of which the game's director, Hideo Kojima, edited himself? I'm the kind of guy that defends Metal Gear Solid 4 in polite company and, as CNET's resident Hideo Kojima apologist, I can honestly say I also was looking forward to a languidly paced video game that challenged its audience in myriad ways, but Death Stranding, literally and figuratively, is a bridge too far.
